Welcome to the Cycling Section.

New blood & changes for 2016! At the AGM in November 2015 a new treasurer has been voted in FF Ged Birch. My experience in cycling has been vast & varied for over 30 years. From racing cycle speedway as a teenager to racing at the Mountain Bike Enduro World Series this year in Scotland. I have always been a keen cyclist commuting to work, riding for pleasure & training for racing. I ride road & off road so am in with baggy short MTB'ers & have a large range of figure hugging lycra for my road days.

We will be putting on rides throughout the year. Road, Mountain Bike & a Family day are all planned. There will be basic refreshments available at each of the rides pre & post ride. On the back of this we are looking at putting on a few trips to some of the UK's best trail centres. We will be posting a full & varied race calendar for xc & enduro, if anybody would like to get involved in racing just drop us a line.

New Kit is being looked at for 2016. The Kit is not going to be specific for racing as quite a few of us already wear it for riding on the road. The kit will be more visible for all you road riders & commuters. Will have news on the new kit in early 2016.

It would be great if more people could get involved in GMFRS cycling section and help shape the full and varied social and riding calendar. This is where you can get involved. If you are organising a ride out with your watch, then you can publicise it on this website or send an email to the 'cycling section' via the Manchester Fire email page.

Please get in touch with my self Ged Birch (Treasurer) or Simon Wood (Secretary) and we can publicise your cycling event.

If you wish to join the cycling section, you must be a paid up member of the GMFRS Sports and Welfare Association which currently costs 50p a month and is taken directly from your wage.  Fill out a FIN106 available on Master forms and send this to Finance at FSHQ.  Each Sports and Welfare section can apply annually for a grant and this contribution helps pay for this.
Contact Simon Wood if you would like to join the cycle section.
